Back in 2000 when we wanted to breed our Ginny, we experienced once more that
Goldens from working lines in Europe were very related to one another. It became
evident that we needed fresh blood badly. A friend of us then told us about a
very good working Golden in Sweden and we tried to find out who he was.
It turned out 'he' was in fact a 'she'. From Canada.
That's how we first came in contact with Ambertrail.
In America and Canada you see mainly Labradors at the trials. Ambertrail is one
of the few kennels that are very successful with their Goldens. Their attitude
and enormous drive is what makes them stand out from the crowd.

In the end of November 2001 I stayed for a week with Val and Mike Ducross.
Seen a lot, learned a lot. And with a dilemma. Which one of the puppies should I be taking home?
I took me a couple of days before I could say: She's The One! Together with Mexxie her litter brother Mountie (Ambertrail's Canadian Mountie, owner Willem van der Ende) also took the plane to Holland. |
Mexxie and Mountie's breeding is very special.
Their father Jimmy (FC/AFTCH Ritchie's Toronto Bust) is a very gifted retriever.
A superior marking dog, Jimmy has both tremendous drive an determination.
He is truly an exciting dog to watch working,
whether it be on land or in the water.
Jimmy's pedigree lists many exceptional Golden Retrievers of type, talent and health.
Their mum Flame (Ambertrail Sparks To A Flame) has a great training attitude. She can keep up with the males, running and playing as hard as any of them.
Still she loves to be worked.
Flame hits the water like a ton of bricks and is a very good marker.
She demonstrates great style on both blinds and marks.
Plus Flame is a wonderful companion as well as a superior hunting dog for Mike.

There was one thing that I really wanted to do: meet great grandfather Sprint (FT/AFTCH
Shurmark's Split Decision). Sprint earned all of the points needed for both his
Field Trial Championship and Amateur Field Trial Championship titles by the time
he was four years old, completely owner handled.
He was named an 'Outstanding Sire' by the Golden Retriever Club of America in 1995.
Sprint was 15 years old when we came to visit. He was everything I expected and more.
What a character. What a great dog!

Six years have gone by since our trip to Canada. Mexxie has turned out to be a true Ambertrail.
She is a very good game finder with a good systematical search pattern.
She is a fast and passionate bitch and is willing to work for you all the time. She never quits.
She has a soft mouth.
She is a very good marker and is known for her good and spectacular work in the water.
Mexxie has done well in various competitions and won the MAP-B of the GRCN in 2007.
I started taking Mexxie hunting that same year, which she and I both enjoy very much.
Last but not least, she has a truly Golden character and is a very healthy dog.
She is HD free (A), ED free (0-0) and holds a current eye clearance (28-12-2007).
All of the above was reason enough for us to plan her first litter by Dreamweaver Harvey in
2005. A really nice litter of 8, 5 males, 3 females, was the result. They are doing us and their pedigree proud
by competing at a high level already.
We kept Dreamweaver Walk in the Park ourselves, pet name Rumba.
At the age of just 2 Rumba won the KNJV-B test in Enkhuizen in 2007.
We have planned a second and last litter of her summer 2008
by a really fantastic young American import Good Luck Yankee. See ‘pups’ for more info.
